Good Sunday Morning and Happy Mother’s Day!
I love that the name we humans have given the earth and creations is “Mother Nature”. I like to think there was a female influence in the creation of such marvelous variety and beauty all over the earth. As a travel blogger, I’ve been wondering how to honor this Mother’s Day. As I looked to the sunset again tonight, I reflected on the constant Mother of Nature.
o, today, on Mother’s Day, I honor Mother Nature in an open thank you letter.
Dear Mother Nature,
I feel so blessed to have you in my life. Since the moment I entered the earth you’ve always been there. I know I can always count on you. You bring me light and joy, delights and pleasures. You take me to the highest heights and the deepest depths. Your vibrant colors of rock, flora, sky, and water fill my world with wonder and happiness. Today, on Mother’s Day I want to thank you for all you’ve done for me.
Thank you for meeting all of my physical needs.
From food to clothing, to shelter and warmth, you provide my livelihood and my life.
Thank you for always being there for me.
I can always count on you. Day in with the sunrise and day out with the sunsets, you are a constant in an ever-changing world.
Thank you for listening to me.
How many times on the trail, near the lake or staring at a sunset, have I poured my heart out? I plead, cry, agonize, complain, praise or glorify to your ever listening ear. I know if I need to clear my head, getting back to Mother Earth is essential.
Thank you for inspiring me.
Inspiration is the first step in creation. As I am inspired by you, I can create and add value and goodness to the world around me.
Thank you for showing me the way.
Whether its the trails to the top of a mountain, to a waterfall, or to the ocean you always show the way to something new and magnificent. Around every bend is a surprise for the eyes. This mimics my own trails of life with ups, downs, and obstacles in the way. And yet, you always show the way to another glorious vista.
Thank you for teaching me Awe and Wonder.
Knowing I am not the center of life helps me to be a positive member of my community and world. Thank you for teaching me my beautiful place in a grand world.
Thank you for the many metaphors to my own life.
My personal favorite is the transformative power seen in a butterfly. The painful process of change to become something so different from yourself. To become more beautiful and glorious than we ever thought possible.
Thank you for teaching me to look up and look around.
Thanks to you, I learn to get outside of myself and be present in my surroundings. I become grounded when I experience your goodness.
It is impossible to list all the ways you influence, guide and bring joy and blessings to my life. But, please know, that especially on this Mother’s Day, I honor and love all that you have given and created to enhance and uplift my life.
Thank you for being Mother Earth to me.
I love you and will always feel ‘home’ when I am with you.
