Through the Women in Travel Summit, I was able to visit Sarasota, Florida virtually. I want to share all the cool things Sarasota has to offer that I can’t wait to see! This virtual tour piqued my interest in a trip to this smaller city in Florida and I can’t wait to explore this town in person.
Sarasota is a beautiful city on the gulf coast of Florida. Parts of the city resembles Venice in Italy! you can enjoy the mainland of Sarasota and the line of keys, such as Longboat Key, Siesta Key.
How can I get to Sarasota, Florida?
On the gulf coast of Florida, Sarasota is an hour south of Tampa and an hour north of Fort Myers.
You can also get to this land of sunshine by flying into the airport in Sarasota (code: SRQ). There are direct flights on all the major airlines from hub cities near and far.

- Golf began in Sarasota, so you will definitely find plenty of beautiful golf courses
- Visit the Botanical Garden to see and smell a variety of plant life.

- Don’t miss the Aquarium with an 80 pound stuffed squid!
- The Arts are vibrant and thriving in Sarasota. Enjoy the Opera and Theater.
Water Recreation in Sarasota
Because Sarasota is located on the Gulf coast, you will find an endless array of water recreation sports to try out. You can do SUP paddle boarding, kayaking, or fly fishing. Watch a waterski performance. Rent a boat to sail on the open water. Swimming is a must in this land of sunshine.

There are over 20 beaches in Sarasota, but this will get you started on your plans. Here is listed a few beaches to check out
- Siesta Keys beach. this is the largest area with lots of accommodations and family-friendly activities

I have not been to Sarasota before, but i know that Red Coach buses run there. I will have to add it to my list.
